From Seed to Fruit: The Growth Process – The Light Page 2
Did you realize that when you were born God placed a light inside of you? This light inside of you desires the things of God – even when the true God is not known to a man, he still desires God. There has never been any civilization on this earth, no matter how remote, that did not seek to worship a higher power. But why are there so many “gods” in our world? Why do men choose to create their own “gods” rather than worshipping the one true God? And why do so many today claim that there is no God at all? Have many become so self-sufficient, or hard-hearted that they have appointed themselves to be god? They don’t need a god in their lives, perhaps because they have no physical needs? John 3:19-21 (The Message) explains it like this:
“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so their work can be seen for the God-work it is.”
Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, and only through Him can we be saved. John 8:12 (The Message) says, “Jesus once again addressed them: ‘I am the world’s light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live on.'”
Light is also symbolic of God’s Word. Psalm 119:105 (The Message) says, “By your words I can see where I’m going. They throw a beam of light on my dark path.” And Psalm 119:130 (The Message) says, “Break open your words, let the light shine out, let ordinary people see the meaning.”
We alone are responsible if we are groping in the dark. That word “groping” means: to feel about, to search blindly; to feel or search mentally, with uncertainty and difficulty. God’s Word promises in Matthew 7:7 (KJV), “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” We must put forth the effort to pierce our own darkness. My pastor once said, “Darkness just is. It just happens. Light takes energy; effort.” Even God used energy to speak light into existence in Genesis 1:3 (KJV), “And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.” Just an interesting bit of trivia – did you realize that there was light, spoken into existence on the first day of creation; yet, God did not form the sun, moon or stars to provide light until the fourth day! Amazing!
God’s plan from the beginning was that you would be able to live in understanding of His plan for you. Paul writes in Ephesians 1:15-19 (The Message), “That’s why, when I heard of the solid trust you have in the Master Jesus and your outpouring of love to all the followers of Jesus, I couldn’t stop thanking God for you – every time I prayed, I’d think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask – ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory – to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is that He is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him – endless energy, boundless strength!”
As you study God’s Word, He will illuminate it to you, and you will know and understand exactly what God’s perfect plan and purpose is for your life! Isn’t that good!?
